‘Iwacu Rwanda’ (Our home Rwanda) is the first album to be put together by DJ Pius, real name Rickie Rukabuza. It is also the album’s title track. The album drops in August this year.
Like the title suggests, it is a feel good song about being Rwandan. The song’s video clip, shot by Meddie Saleh, takes the viewer through various scenic places around the country.
The song’s audio was produced by local producer Iyzo Pro. It packs in more than 15 singles, some of which are collaborative works with regional artistes. Some of the collaborating artistes on the album are; Uganda’s Jose Chameleone, and Radio and Weasel, Tanzania’s Lady Jaydee, Solid Star and MC Galaxy from Nigeria, and Magnom from Ghana.
Similarly, the singer is working with a handful of producers on his new album; from Rwanda’s very own Iyzo Pro and Pastor P, to Ugandan producers Paddy Man, Eli Arkhis, and Nessim.
Also a DJ and music producer, Pius’s singing journey started in 2009, as part of the group, Two 4 Real, along with Innocent Aidan Tumaini aka TKay. At the beginning of 2016, the two went separate ways, with TKay relocating abroad to further his studies. After the split, DJ Pius decided to embark on a solo career.
