A reading child is a winning child

A child searches for a book. The more you read the more you learn new things and understand better. Dennis Agaba.

It is true that when you read you expose yourself to new things, new information, new ways to tell your friends and classmates a story. In other words, a good reading child is a good story teller and great discoverer.

The more you read the more you discover about the world around you. My mother always tell me that the more you read the more knowledge you absorb, and knowledge is important in all aspects of life.

From reading everyday I have found that It opens your mind to speak about what is happening and use this as a learning experience, and I have also seen that some of my reading friends have developed an interest in different cultures and languages, which is interesting. Me and my friends we call it fun learning.

I have also seen that students who love reading find it easy to do academic revision. Our class teacher often says that students who enjoys reading often become better readers, score higher on achievement tests in all subject areas, and have greater content knowledge than those who do not.

I encourage my fellow children to enjoy reading, read for fun and share your discoveries with those around you. Remember a reading child is a winning child.

The writer is a 13 year old pupil in grade six.
