The national women football team (She-Amavubi) coach, Jean-Baptiste Kayiranga, will name a captain and vice on Friday ahead of the upcoming 2018 CECAFA Women Challenge Cup Tournament, scheduled for May 12-22 at Kigali Stadium.

"I have about three to five senior players from whom I will pick a captain and vice-captain. I will communicate my final decision on Friday,” Kayiranga said.

"We are taking the competition seriously and we want good results, but first, we are looking at how our players can gain confidence and experience during the training. Our players are young and many of them have been playing in the domestic league only, but we believe they will do better,” he added

Rwanda have a tough task against strong teams like Ethiopia, defending champions Tanzania and Kenya.

At the 2016 edition in Uganda, She-Amavubi were eliminated in the group stage after losing to Tanzania and Ethiopia.

Tanzania won the trophy after defeating Kenya in the final while Ethiopia overcame hosts Uganda to take third place.
