Tunisian clubs target APR trio

Three APR players have been linked with a number of top division Tunisia clubs, Times Sport reports. Jean ‘Migi’ Mugiraneza, Jean Claude Iranzi and Arafat Serugendo who are apart of the Rwanda U-20 team ‘Junior Wasps’ currently on a one-month training stint in Tunisia ahead of this month’s African Youth Championships have been linked with possible moves to different Tunisian sides.

Three APR players have been linked with a number of top division Tunisia clubs, Times Sport reports.

Jean ‘Migi’ Mugiraneza, Jean Claude Iranzi and Arafat Serugendo who are apart of the Rwanda U-20 team ‘Junior Wasps’ currently on a one-month training stint in Tunisia ahead of this month’s African Youth Championships have been linked with possible moves to different Tunisian sides.

These transfer speculations come after the team’s remarkable display in Tunisia. The Junior Wasps have boosted their chances to impress in the African championship after pulling off a series of good results.

These results 1-0 victories over La Marsa and ES Beni-Khalled, a 2-1 victory over Le Bizerte (2-1) and a compelling Club Africain (4-1).  

Reacting to these speculations, APR’s president Brig. Gen Alex Kagame says that the club has no problem provided the Tunisian clubs follow the right channel.

"We have learnt of their interest and are very fine with it. All they have to do is to go through the right channels and discuss the issue with us,” APR’s president Alex Kagame said.

Kagame however couldn’t disclose the Tunisian clubs involved insisting that he was yet to get full details.

The U-20 side’s 4-1 win over Club Africain; one of Tunisia’s most decorated clubs is their latest win and should have boosted the youngsters’ morale ahead of the African Youth Championship that is scheduled for January 18-February 1 in Kigali.

In that game, Elias Uzamukunda scored a brace while Haruna Niyonzima and Yussuf Ndayishimiye netted the other goals.

In the Championship, Rwanda is drawn in Group A alongside Mali, Cameroon and Ghana while Group B is made up of Nigeria, Ivory Coast, South Africa and Egypt.

The top four sides in the championship will earn automatic slots at the 2009 Under-20 World Cup in Egypt. However, should Egypt reach the last four in Rwanda, then the 5th placed team automatically qualifies for the World Cup.

Rwanda opens her campaign on January 18 against Mali at Amahoro stadium.
