Striker Meddie Kagere says his team’s major goal is to top Group D in the CAF Confederation Cup. Gor Mahia start their campaign against Rayon Sports next week at Amahoro Stadium.
The former Rayon Sports striker says it won’t be easy playing against his former club especially the fans who adored him for his exploits before he left but is adamant that he won’t be showing them any mercy.
"The coaching staff has told us our target is finishing top but that won’t be easy considering the nature of opposition we are up against. The first match will be abit difficult for me because I play against my former team but for 90 minutes, I won’t think about that,” the 32-year-old Rwanda international said.
Kagere is partnered with another Rwandan striker, former Police forward Jacques Tuyisenge, and together they have been scoring a lot of goals in the Kenyan Premier League.
Kagere has also played for other Rwandan clubs which include Kibuye, now-defunct Atraco FC, SC Kiyovu and Police FC. He also featured for Uganda’s Mbale Heroes and Masaka LC, as well as Tunisian side Esperance Sportive de Zarzis.
