Residents of Byeza cell, Muhazi sector, Kagarama and Musha sector all in Rwamagana district are beneficiaries of over 19 houses constructed in one month by the dance troupe ceremony Intore from Rwamagana district, who were attending a solidarity camp in December 2007.

TIG completed the houses after the intore ended their  camp. The National Electoral Commission under the request of Rwamagana district provided the construction material worth over Rwf.21Million.

Residents were excited after the handover held on Wednesday within the twin working sites for the development of the housing projects.

Among the attendants were NEC representatives, head of district security services in Rwamagana district, beneficiaries and several public service officials.

The NEC representative, Lucie Mukarumashana said that the beneficiaries had a chance of utilizing the gardens within the compounds to  produce crops that could be sold to generate additional incomes for the beneficiaries .

She was full of praise for the activities undertaken by  TIG and Intore, saying that the work done was focused on developing the country.

She also asked beneficiaries to preach integrity, love and unity within the district. She pointed out that through what is done under such activities, there is sharing and love because those who did it did had the quest to love others.

She asserted that there is still a lot to be done to fully develop the housing project. She revealed that they would carry on the completion of the project.

The Mayor of Rwamagana district, Valens Ntezirembo said the housing project exhibited the fact that it is possible to seek self reliance among the populace.

‘We have always said that there is no need of being undermined by nations which give us aid. Self reliance is the way to go’.

Ntezirembo asked the beneficiaries to plant flowers, trees and grass for ensure the beauty and environmental sustainability of the housing project to avoid depreciation of the houses.

He also noted that the houses are not for sale. He proposed that even if the houses are offered for free, utmost care was needed to ensure their longetivity. He also promised more support to those who have not got houses.

One of the beneficiaries, Kaboyi Gilbert aged 34 said the house offered to him will change his life because he now had a permanent abode.

‘I thank God and the people who planned it for us. We cannot award you in anyway apart from thanking you and making you know that it is a great achievement’, Kaboyi said.
