President Paul Kagame and his Ivorian counterpart Alassane Ouattara met last evening ahead of the 2018 Ibrahim Governance Weekend in Kigali.

Ivory Coast President Ouattara arrived in the country on Wednesday.

"As part of my visit to Rwanda, I met this Thursday, April 26, 2018, with my host and counterpart Paul Kagame whom I thank for the warm and fraternal welcome that myself and members of my delegation received,” the Ivorian President said via Twitter.

The President had earlier on paid tribute to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Ouattara is expected to take part at the presentation of Mo Ibrahim Prize that will be given to the former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

The award ceremony is part of the 2018 Mo Ibrahim Governance Weekend taking place in Kigali starting Friday.

Upon arrival, he was received by senior government officials, including the Minister of foreign Affairs and Cooperation Louise Mushikiwabo.

Earlier this week, Mo Ibrahim Foundation released a 128-page report that focuses on Public Service in Africa, and how that relates to good governance and effective leadership on the continent.

Sirleaf is set to be awarded the $5M Ibrahim Prize, which will be paid over ten years and will get $200,000 annually for life.

She became President of Liberia on January 2006, after winning the 2005 elections.
