Police in Arizona, United States, are investigating the death of Rwandan model Neema Jeanine Ngerero who passed away on Monday, October 3, at the age of 25.
A source close to Ngerero’s family told The New Times that the young model was found in her car minutes after checking out of office from her workplace in Arizona, in a mysterious incident that the American police are currently investigating to find the root cause of her death.
"I can't say much about her death but what I can confirm is that she was found dead inside her car in a parking lot,” the source told The New Times.
"She was a young model whose career future was promising, having performed on the runway in big fashion events like New York Fashion Week,” he added.
While the police are yet to confirm what may have caused Ngerero’s death, her family called on the public to avoid speculations around her death until results of the investigation are revealed.
"It is with sadness that the Ngerero family is confirming the tragic death of Neema Ngerero. We appreciate the pouring support from the community and kindly ask that any speculation regarding the circumstances surrounding her death be ceased until all the details are known, as the investigation is ongoing,” reads a statement from Ngerero’s family.
The death of Ngerero has shocked a number of people in Rwanda and in the US diaspora including celebrities, with the likes of musicians Kenny Sol, Okkama and actress Alliance Isimbi, among many, who expressed their sadness about the model’s unprecedented passing.
