The national rugby team, Silverbacks, will face Ghana in the 2018 Africa Bronze Rugby Cup on May 9 at Accra Sports Stadium. The tournament runs from May 9 to May 12 and it will attract four teams, namely Ghana, Lesotho, Rwanda and Mauritius.
According to Silverbacks head coach Claude Aime Ezour, the winner will be promoted to the Rugby Africa Silver Cup 2019. The other two teams will be ranked 2, 3 and 4 according to their results during the finale and the ranking match.
"The last team ranked will be relegated to let its place in 2019 to a new team which will be selected by application and evaluation of the level of development.
"If a team refuses to play, or abandons the match or is being expelled from the match, its opponent will be declared winner of the match,” he said.
Rwanda dropped to Division C having lost to Zambia 98-0 away from home in 2015. Coach Ezour has warned his side to work hard and not to miss the daily training sessions in the on-going camp, which kicked off yesterday at Utexrwa.
"The more you practice, the more you will be confident on the field in a game, especially since most of you come from different clubs and have not been playing together as a team,” he added.
The Silverbacks will depart for Ghana on May 7 and full-back Vincent Kamali says their biggest challenge is that the team has not played its build up games going into the tournament.
