SECOND Division football league sides Sorwathe and Pepiniere have booked tickets to the second division quarter-finals. The two were in Group A.
Sorwathe, unbeaten this season, progressed to the playoffs stage of the second tier on Sunday after a goalless draw with Aspor while their rivals Pepiniere thrashed Akagera 6-0 at Rwinkwavu grounds in Kayonza District to secure a spot in the knock-out stage.
In an interview with Times Sport, Sorwathe coach Comrade Banamwana said "my players have shown great commitment and hard work this season”. He said he wanted the same determination going forward.
"To be unbeaten in 22 league games is quite a feat. However, there is no room for complacency and everyone on the team understands that. The goal is promotion to the topflight league,” he added.
With a match to spare, two Group B teams, Intare and AS Muhanga, have also advanced to the round of eight.
