Oman-based businessmen Said Nasser Abdullah Al Kindi, Abdul Rahim Sleyim Salmeen Al Hajri, Sulaiman Khamis Salim Al Obaidani and Majid Sulaiman Salim Al Wahaibi are in Rwanda to hold discussions with Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) member association, Ijabo Ryawe Rwanda, on the feasibility of opening a sports centre in Rwanda.

The visiting delegation arrived in the country on Monday for a five-day official visit, which will also see them hold discussions with various stakeholders with an aim of fostering relations based on football technical development.

"The purpose of this visit to your lovely country is to discuss the possibility of opening a sports centre in Rwanda and also explore business opportunities in different sports such as swimming,” Nasser Abdullah Al Kindi said.

The visit follows a courtesy call to the businessmen in Oman by Sheikh Hamdan Habimana, the head of Ijabo Ryawe Rwanda, last October where he visited Oman’s Excellence Sports Academy, among others, as part of fostering relations aimed at developing grassroots football in Rwanda.

Meanwhile, the officials yesterday paid a courtesy call on FERWAFA’s president Jean-Damascène Sekamana and later paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Today, they are expected to visit Musanze and Rubavu sports centers.

Ijabo Ryawe Rwanda is comprised of 223 youngsters drawn from different technical centres and academies from five zonal leagues of Rwanda.
