MTN Rwanda has appointed Chantal Umutoni Kagame as the new Chief Business and Corporate Affairs Officer.
Kagame was until recently the deputy Chief Executive Officer of Tigo Rwanda which was recently acquired by Bharti Airtel Ltd.
She had served in that post since June 2015.
Officials at MTN Rwanda confirmed her appointment to the position which is fairly new as the Corporate Affairs department was previously under the Human Resources desk.
Kagame, a telecom professional, has 17 years’ experience in the sector. She joined Tigo Rwanda in 2009 as head of sales distribution department, and was also handling the corporate affairs function.
She has a Bachelor of Commerce (finance major) graduate from the former Kigali Institute of Science and Technology now University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology.
The development comes around the same time that Airtel Rwanda Ltd terminated employment of 49 employees following the restructuring exercise that aimed at down-sizing the current workforce to avoid duplication of roles.
