Sunday SC Kiyovu 2-2 Rayon Sports Miroplast 0-3 AS Kigali

Rayon Sports came from behind twice to salvage a point against SC Kiyovu in their latest effort to retain their Azam Rwanda Premier League title, at Kigali Stadium, yesterday.

Former Rayon player Fabrice Mugheni Kakule put SC Kiyovu ahead in the 25th minute off a Francis Mustafa corner, before Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana equalised for the blues in the 53th minute through a spot kick after Jean-Paul Ahoyikuye held the ball in the area.

Five minutes later, Mustafa restored Kiyovu’s lead from a Djuma Nizeyimana assist before Rayon leveled matters again, this time through Hussein ‘Tchabalala’ Shaban in the 78th minute.

Tchabalala had come on as a substitute for François Master Mugisha.

Djabel Manishimwe, Bimenyimana and Ismaila Diarra all squandered great chances for their side while Djuma Nizeyimana, Mustafa and Alexis Nganou also missed for Kiyovu.

Following the match, Rayon are in third place with 31 points, one ahead of fourth-placed Kiyovu and three behind leaders APR FC.

Meanwhile, AS Kigali beat Miroplast 3-0 to move into second place with 32 points.

AS Kigali’s goals came through Jean-Claude Ndarusanze, who scored a brace to take his tally for the season to nine goals, and Michel Ndahinduka.
