Rayon Sports captain Kevin Muhire has urged the club management to keep Julien Mette who he believes can build a strong team if he is given time.
The Frenchman joined the Blues in January and his coaching touch made a significant impact on the club’s performance over the past month during which he won five matches and only lost once in the Primus National League.
He is now vying for a coach of the month award just a month after his arrival.
Despite losing Héritier Luvumbu and skipper Abdul Rwatubyaye, Rayon Sports have been in impressive form thanks to Mette who managed to rebuild the team which had been struggling under caretaker Muhamed Wade who is now serving as his assistant coach.
The 42-year-old tactician signed a short-term deal that will expire at the end of the season but Muhire is among the players who already want him to stay considering the job he has done during just the past few weeks.

The club skipper believes Mette has the expertise to push the club to new heights and he urged club president Jean Fidele Uwayezu to hand him a permanent contract and give him time to build a strong team that can win trophies domestically and beyond.
"Julien came and many players left and there were second-choice players who had lost confidence but, since he spoke to them, the dressing room is totally different, everyone here is motivated . If I were the president of this club, I would extend his contract so early and give him the opportunity to buy players," he added.
Rayon Sports are second on the league table with 45 points, 10 behind league leaders APR FC. The two traditional rivals lock horns in an epic derby at Kigali Pele Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff 3PM.
This will be Mette’s first derby and he will have a point to prove to get his contract extended before the end of the season.
