President Paul Kagame on Friday joined First Lady Jeannette Kagame and thousands of women for the celebration of the International Women's Day at BK Arena.

This year's ceremony was held under the theme 'Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’.

The colorful event brought together thousands of women in different sectors across the country to reflect on women's contribution to national development across sectors, mentioning that the progress made so far was enabled by different policies and laws that advanced gender equality and accelerated women in different leadership positions.

In his remarks, Kagame said that in Rwanda women have made commendable contributions in the three-decade journey of rebuilding the country. He however added that they possess more untapped potential that can be leveraged to take the country further in terms of development.
