Veteran striker Hussein ‘Tshabalala’ Shabani scored the only goal of the game as AS Kigali continued their impressive form with a 1-0 victory over Musanze FC at Kigali Pele Stadium on Friday, March 8.
The game was keenly contested from the very beginning with end-to–end action as both clubs made vital incursions in each other’s vital areas.
Shabani broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute as he fired past goalkeeper Gad Muhawenayo to give the Citizens the lead.
The Burundi international has been in fine form since he rejoined the club from Libyan side Al Ta’awon in January.
Shabani and his striking partner Felix Kone started finding spaces at the back of Musanze FC back four but they missed a host of chances as the first half came to an end with a 1-0 lead in favor of the City of Kigali-powered side.

Musanze FC were lively in the second half with Solomon Adeyinka spearheading their attack while the likes of Patrick Ntijyinama marshaled the midfield.
However, AS Kigali's central defensive pair of Latif Bishira and Jean Bosco Akayezu were very resolute as they thwarted most of the visitors’ efforts to keep them at bay until the referee blew the final whistle to the relief of Guys Bukasa and his men.
The victory saw AS Kigali now leapfrog struggling Police FC to climb to fifth position with 34 points whereas Musanze remain third with 44 points.
