Rwanda will host the Confederation of African Tennis annual general assembly for the first time, according to the Rwanda Tennis Federation.

The two-day continental meeting is scheduled for April 27-28 at Hotel de Mille Collines.

Kassim Ntageruka, president of the Rwanda Tennis Federation told Sunday Sport that the Assembly is usually held in North African countries and South Africa but the country’s successful hosting of International conferences made the decision to bring it to Rwanda very easy.

"Usually, this assembly is held in Morocco, Algeria, Egypt or South Africa. Coming to Kigali is a good sign that we are on the move. Rwanda is renowned to successfully host international events, this will be no exception.”

He further noted, "We are in advanced stages of the preparations for the event, almost everything is already in place. The 2018 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will convene around sixty guests from CAT affiliated federations and ITF.”

The AGM comes to Kigali, a month after the city hosted the regional Under-12 tournament that saw Rwanda qualify for the continental showdown next month in Morocco.

CAT annual general meeting brings together presidents of all African Tennis Federations and an ITF delegation, led by President David Haggerty who will be making his first visit to Rwanda since assuming office in September 2015.

CAT is divided into five zones namely: Zone IV (Eastern Africa), Zone V (Southern Africa), Zone III (Central Africa), Zone II (West Africa) and Zone I (Northern Africa).
