APR is targeting a record 8th Genocide memorial trophy when the tournament kicks off in June, according to the club’s assistant coach Elie Mutabazi.

Last year, APR dominated both the men and women categories after seeing off Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) respectively.

Mutabazi told Times Sport that the teams are training for the competition and warned against complacency.

"We have started training for the competition and I have told the players that the only thing between them and retaining the trophy is complacency. We need to approach the competition with the right attitude,” Mutabazi said.

Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) is one of the sports federations that lost members in the genocide, who included players, coaches and administrators.
