As Rwandans across the world continue to commemorate the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi for the 24th time, local celebrities from both the music and film industry have sent out a message of solidarity, through music.

On April 10, a team of local filmmakers released a visual song titled, Hora Rwanda, dedicating it to over a million lives lost in the Genocide against the Tutsi and the people of Rwanda.

The song features local film celebrities, mostly from TV series Seburikoko and City Maid.

Hora Rwanda also features Gratien Niyitegeka, Laura Musanase, Emanuel Ndayizeye, Ernest Kalisa, Leon Ngabo and Clapton Mugisha, among others.

The track was composed in memory of the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

According to Louis Udahemuka, the composer, remembering the Genocide is an obligation for every Rwandan.

"Sharing our history, some of which has been tragic, will help us build a bright future, fight genocide ideology and anything that could take the country back to its dark past. It will also help us focus on what will advance the collective good of Rwandans.”

"On behalf of my colleagues in the movie industry, we would like to call upon Rwandans to remember, but also stand together so genocide never happens again,” explained Udahemuka, adding that: "There is hope, that light must shine wide so that the whole world knows about our history, but also the entire human race will fight against genocide not anywhere in the world.”
