Kigali is hosting, for the very first time, the Ntare Lions League Finale 2024, a celebration of sportsmanship and unity organized by Rwandan and Ugandan old boys of Ntare School, one of Uganda’s oldest schools, from March 7 to 10.

President Paul Kagame and Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni are old boys and patrons of the school in Mbarara District, in western Uganda. Kagame attended Ntare School from 1972 to 1976 while Museveni was there much earlier in the 1960s.

According to a statement by the organisers, Ntare School Old Boys Association (NSOBA), this event marks a significant milestone as it brings together about 500 Ntare School former students from Rwanda and Uganda for a weekend of football, cricket, rugby, and golf, in a spirit of camaraderie and cultural exchange.
