Struggle to be competitive

Dear Editor,

I would like to encourage fellow Rwandan business people to be more optimistic and embrace all the changes that are bound to come as a result of our country joining the East African Community (EAC).

For a long time now, many fear that giant businesses from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will also compete in the Rwandan market.

My advice is that our traders should instead struggle to better their services so that they can compete favourably. It only takes hard work, dedication and good customer  care to be successful in business.

When Rwanda joined the EAC, the rules dictated that the country plays by the rules of the economic bloc. There is no turning back.
