Holders APR, Amagaju, Bugesera and Police have joined three other teams in the last eight of the 2018 Peace Cup.

In one of Friday’ last 16 matches, Police FC overcame their first leg away defeat to beat Musanze 3-0 and qualify with a 4-2 aggregate win.

Muhammed 'Meddy' Mushimiyimana scored in the sixth minute for the home side, before Isaie Songa doubled the lead through a second half spot kick, while Antoine Dominique Ndayishimiye netted the third for Innocent Seninga's side.

Musanze had their own chances to score with new signing Patrick Kikunda, Musombwa Kaburuta and Bokota Kamana Labama all coming close but in vain.

Amagaju beat 1-0 Muhanga to qualify on a 2-2 aggregate score thanks to the away goal they scored in the first leg.

Bugesera eliminated SC Kiyovu after the two sides played out a goalless draw in the second leg on Friday at Nyamata turf, the former benefiting from the away goal rule with the two sides having drawn 1-1 in the first leg. 

APR and second division side La Jeunesse at Mumena Stadium shared the spoils after both sides failed to hit the back of the net, but the tie had been decided in the first leg when the former won 3-0. 

Mukura Victory Sports, Sunrise and Marines are the other sides to have reached the quarterfinals of Peace Cup, having earlier ejected AS Kigali, last season’s finalists Espoir and Pepiniere FC, respectively.

The seven teams will later be joined by either Rayon Sports or Entincelles, with their two-legged fixture having been postponed owing to the former’s continental duties.

Peace Cup quarter-finals will be played in May while semi-final fixtures are scheduled late June with the final due on July 4. The eventual winners will represent Rwanda in the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup.

Meanwhile, Rayon Sports took a giant step toward the group stage of CAF Confederations Cup after thumping Costa do Sol of Mozambique 3-0 at Kigali Stadium last evening in the fixture’s first leg, with the return match due in Maputo later this month.
