Local artistes will have a chance to share the stage with some of the continent’s biggest musical names at a special concert in Kigali this month.

The concert is one of the side events lined up at the forthcoming Ibrahim Governance Weekend (IGW), a flagship event of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation that is held in a different African country annually.

Dubbed Mo Ibrahim Concert, the event takes place on Sunday, April 29, at the Kigali Convention Centre, starting at 6p.m local time.

Celebrated musicians that will headline the show include Senegalese icon Youssou Ndour, Kenyan band Sauti Sol, and Nigeria’s Peter P Square.

Rwandan musicians lined up for the gig include Charly na Nina, Riderman, Knowless, and Phiona Mbabazi. The show will be screened live on the official Facebook page of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.

The three-day Ibrahim Governance Weekend will draw prominent African political and business leaders, representatives of civil society organisations, and multilateral and regional institutions to debate issues of critical importance to the continent.

President Paul Kagame, who is the Chairperson of the African Union, will deliver a keynote speech on leadership on the opening day of the meeting.

The following day is dedicated to the Ibrahim Forum, a high-level discussion forum that tackles challenges facing the continent and sets out priorities for action. The forum will focus on public service in Africa.

Mo Ibrahim Foundation was established in 2006 by Sudanese-British billionaire Mohammed "Mo” Ibrahim, to help promote good leadership and governance on the African continent.
