Peace Cup holders, APR FC continued a good run in the 2018 Peace Cup campaign after thrashing second division side La Jeunesse 3-0 at Kigali Stadium in Nyamirambo yesterday.

 

The win brought Ljubomir Petrovic side’s closer to the quarter-finals.

 

All the goals were scored in the first half.

 

Midfielder Djihad Bizimana scored the opener in the 17th minute while Imran Nshimiyimana netted the second one off a deflected ball from Muhadjir Hakizimana in the 35th minute.

 

La Jeunesse’s fate was sealed by Hakizimana through a wonderful free-kick taken on the 44th minute.

 

Elsewhere, home side Musanze FC beat Police 2-1 at Ubworoherane Stadium while second division side AS Muhanga beat Amagaju 2-1 at Muhanga Stadium.

 

Meanwhile, due to a heavy downpour, the game between SC Kiyovu and Bugesera was postponed to Wednesday.

 

On Monday, Mukura Victory Sports beat AS Kigali 3-2 at Huye Stadium, thanks to Ibrahim Nshimiyimana’s brace and Kevin Hakizimana’s goal, while Janvier Benedata and Jimmy Mbaraga scored for AS Kigali.

 

In the other matches, Marines FC beat Pepiniere FC at Ruyenzi 1-0, while Espoir FC beat Sunrise FC 2-1 at Kamarampaka Stadium.

 

The second leg of last sixteen will be played on April, 5-6 and the winners will qualify for quarter-finals.

 

However, league leaders Rayon Sports did not play their scheduled game against the Rubavu-based Etincelles owing to the fact that the former are preparing to face Mozambican side CD Costa Do Sol in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup play-off.

 

Quarter-finals will be played in May while semi-finals will be played late June and the final on July 4.

 

The eventual winners will represent Rwanda in the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup.
