Junior Wasps coach Vincent Mashami reckons his team has a slight edge over Kenya in the return leg of the 2019 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations slated for later this month.

The Junior Wasps equalised towards the end of the game through APR striker Lague Byiringiro to give Rwanda an edge in the return leg.

"We kept pushing after conceding early and the neve- give-up spirit from the boys yielded fruit. We were the better team throughout and it gives us a bit of an advantage going into the return leg,” he said.

The Junior Wasps arrived in the country yesterday and are expected to continue residential training for the crucial return leg.

If Rwanda progresses, they will book a date with Zambia in the second round in May.

The final qualifying round will be staged in July with the winner earning a place in next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations finals tournament in Niger.

Seven teams will emerge from the qualifiers to join host Niger for the final tournament scheduled for 2-17 February 2019.
