Revelers braved a heavy downpour on Easter Sunday at Amahoro National Stadium parking lot, in Remera, to watch their favourite gospel musicians do what they do best.
The concert, that was organised by renowned local gospel artiste Patient Bizimana, attracted a mammoth crowd that danced throughout the show.
The stars of the night were award-winning Nigerian gospel artiste Sinach and Bizimana, who put on a powerful performance despite a heavy rain.
Fans danced under the rain without care in the world, while others shielded themselves from the raging downpour with plastic chairs.
The show, that was supposed to start at 3pm, delayed until 5:30pm.
DJ Spin and his dance crew cheered the crowd with a selection of gospel tunes, before paving way for Aime Uwimana who kept concertgoers on their feet, while performing his tracks like Nyibutsa, Arankunda and Hillsong Church’s rendition of Here I am to Worship.
Next on stage was Israel Mbonyi. The singer sent the crowd into frenzy with the performance of his singles Ndanyuzwe, Sinzabagirwa and Ibihe that got the crowd dancing and singing along.
At exactly 7pm, Bizimana took to the stage, taking the already thrilled audience through his popular tracks Menye neza, Ubwo buntu and Andyohera cyane, while engaging the crowd.
The singer also took time during his performance to thank revelers for braving the rain to celebrate Easter and worship Jesus Christ with him.
A few minutes past 8p.m, lights dimmed and the background music faded away. A sea of lit phones could be seen throughout the crowd as the long awaited headliner, Sinach and her band made their way onto the stage.
She belted out her tunes You do mighty things, The name Jesus and Rejoice. The music star, who was elegantly dressed in black glittering jumpsuit, engaged the audience frequently, as she took selfies and videos with excited fans.
The singer crowned her performance with her hit track I know who I am amid great cheering and applause from the audience.
Even after the show was over, the song I know who I am still lingered in the air, a perfect end to the night.
Sinach arrived in Kigali on Saturday evening.
When asked what the audience should expect at the concert, Sinach had answered: "It is going to be dance, praise and adoration.” And indeed it was.
Sinach, born Osinachi Kalu, is arguably the biggest gospel musician in Nigeria at the moment. She is also an award winning songwriter and worship leader at Christ Embassy Church in her native Nigeria.
Some of her other popular gospel hits include Precious Jesus, He did it again, Great are You Lord, Simply devoted and Awesome God.
The Easter Celebration concert is an annual event initiated in 2013, by renowned local gospel star Patient Bizimana. The singer is also a worship leader at Masoro Evangelical Restoration Church in Masoro.
