Bayingana seeks 3rd term as FERWACY head
Thursday, March 29, 2018
Incumbent Aimable Bayingana is standing unopposed as he seeks a third term of office as president of Rwanda Cycling Federation (Ferwacy).
The elections will be held on Saturday at Classic Hotel in Kicukiro. Bayingana was re-elected to the board of the Africa Cycling Confederation in February last year.
According to the head of FERWACY Electoral Commission, Claudine Ingabire, Bayingana is the only candidate vying for the post of president. Like the federation head, all the other posts have sole ‘candidates’.
Benoit Munyankindi is standing to replace Festus Bizimana on the post of first the vice-president while on the post of second vice-president, Francois Karangwa is coming in to replace the late Lambert Byemayire, who passed way in 2016.
There is also sole candidacy for Toussaint Nosisi Gahitsi, coming to take the place the outgoing secretary general, Thierry Rwabusaza, who is vying to become the federation’s next treasurer to replace Benoit Munyankindi.
Bayingana has been president of Rwanda Cycling Federation since March 2010. The candidates started campaigning on March 24 and have until tomorrow midnight to ‘converse’ for votes.
