Wednesday Gicumbi vs APR (Gicumbi Stadium)
Sunday Etincelles 0-1 APR
APR SKIPPER, Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza ‘Migi’ has said they will not make any mistake that could cost them a point during their encounter with Gicumbi FC in a rescheduled matchday 15 fixture of Azam Rwanda Premier League.
The game that will be staged at Gicumbi Stadium on Wednesday is the last rescheduled game for the army side.
"We badly wanted the three points going into the game against Etincelles during the weekend and we got them. The situation has not changed going into the encounter with Gicumbi. We shall not make any mistake to ensure we get the maximum points from the game,” said Mugiraneza.
Central defender Aimable Nsabimana scored lone goal as the 16 league champions beat Etincelles 1-0 on Sunday in a rescheduled matchday 14 fixture staged at Umuganda Stadium in the resort town of Rubavu.
Nsabimana’s header came on the 20th minute off a well taken corner-kick by Muhadjir Hakizimana.
The win left the army side in the 4th place in the league standing while Etincilles remained seventh with 21 points.
"We have missed many chances over the last couple of games but we are happy to have earned all three points from the Rubavu encounter. In the second round of the season we will be different team,” said Mugiraneza, who was recently brought back to his childhood club after years playing for different clubs in regional countries.
Hakizimana, Innocent Nshuti, Andrew Buteera and Fitina Ombolenga had clear chances to score goals but failed to hit the target while Saiba Mumbere and Ismael Gikamba created chances for the hosts but failed to get the ball past goalie Yves Kimenyi.
Etincelles head coach Emmanuel Ruremesha said; "We didn’t play our game, APR used many midfielders which is different from their usual formation and this killed our game; we tried to adapt but it was too late.”
About the APR goal, he said; "It was a set piece goal which we didn’t manage to save but overall, I think we played well and we dominated the game but failed to score. We are going to prepare the second round.”
One Wednesday, APR will play the last postponed game at Gicumbi Stadium and a win would leave them with equal points as SC Kiyovu who are currently number two on the table standing with 28 points.
AS Kigali lead the table with 29 points, one point ahead of SC Kiyovu, while defending champions Rayon Sports, who will today play against Sunrise in postponed game at Nyagatare turf are third with 27 points.
APR are in the fourth spot with 25 points and one game in hand while Nyagatare-based Sunrise FC are fourth with 25 points.
