The annual Capital Markets University Challenge, which kicked off on March 6 in Southern Province, ends this afternoon with 21 students competing to win part of the Rwf4 million that is up for grabs. The competition, which has been going for the past three weeks, has quiz and essay writing categories.
The annual Capital Markets University Challenge, which kicked off on March 6 in Southern Province, ends this afternoon with 21 students competing to win part of the Rwf4 million that is up for grabs. Five teams will tussle it out in the national finals of the 5th edition of the Challenge at Kigali Serena Hotel this afternoon – The Strikers, representing Northern Province, Vision Quest Group for Southern Province, Save for the Purpose are Western Province representatives, while Iterambere Group are for Eastern Province. Kigali is represented by two teams – Electronic Saving and Innovation Group and Unified Savers Group.
Three students are competing in the national essay writing category – Kigali’s Derrick Muhire, Ange Uwase (Southern Province), and Eric Ishimwe (Kigali).
The competition is organised by Capital Market Authority (CMA) in collaboration with Rwanda Stock Exchange, Economic Policy Research Network, the International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Science (AISEC), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda, and Rwanda National Investment Trust.
The major aim of the competition is to create public awareness, especially among the youth, about how capital markets work and also encourage them to save and invest to safeguard the financial future.
