Rwanda U20 will take on topflight football league side Police FC in a warm-match on Saturday at Amahoro National Stadium as the junior national team prepares for their 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya next month.
On Wednesday, Rwanda U20 Amavubi coach Vincent Mashami announced a provisional 30-man squad for the two-legged continental qualifiers.
The team faces Innocent Seninga’s Police FC in the first of the two warm-up games.
The youngsters are also slated to play another league outfit SC Kiyovu on Tuesday next week before Mashami names the final squad for the first leg qualifier.
The first leg will be staged on April 1 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County; while the return leg will be played on April 21 at Kigali Stadium in Nyamirambo.
Mashami says the warm-up matches will help him in selecting the best possible squad from the 30.
"We want to use these two games to get the best picture of our preparations and the team that we want.”
The winner between Rwanda and Kenya will face defending champions Zambia in the second round in May. The final qualifying round will be staged in July with the winner earning automatic slots to next year’s Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
The U-20 Africa Cup of Nations is held every two years with the top 4 teams qualifying for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
