Many weddings are planned during the festive season. IMMACULATE CHAKA finds out how to select wedding garments

It is every one’s dream to look unique and fabulous on his or her wedding day. Unlike other parties, a wedding needs to be planned for. Among the most critical of all the components in a wedding is mostly the wedding gown.

The Sunday Times talked to Edith Kirungi the owner of Bridal image currently operating in City plaza building. Karungi tells us how one can select a perfect wedding attire and look elegant on his or her wedding day.

‘In order to look elegant on a wedding day, the bride and the bridegroom have to make an excellent selection of the wedding attires. Not any wedding attire looks good on the brides’, says Karungi.

Never pay for a gown which you have not fit into. Before the wedding day, the bride should make sure that she try’s out the gown to see whether it fits perfectly. Over sized gowns are not eye pleasing.

If a bride makes a number of movements around the bridal shops of Kigali city and fails to get nice and fitting attire, it is advisable to buy a piece of a material from which a fabulous gown can be made.

Making your own gown may seem a little bit demanding and costly but if well done, it can be hired to other brides hence having a chance of getting money on the sides.

‘With the help of her matron, the bride also has to make sure that all the maids and the flower girl get dresses which fit. The colour of the maid’s outfits agreed upon should be respected’, says Karungi.

On the side of the bridegroom, Karungi says that men should play a great role by making themselves look remarkable on the wedding day.

Like the brides, the bridegrooms have to make sure that they look for suits which fit them well. It is the duty of the bridegroom to make sure that his peg boy, best man and the groom’s men get the accurate suits.

‘In a situation where the groomsmen have to get their own suits, the bridegroom has to find out whether the suits are matching with his. Suits which are extra large in size look comical on the grooms men’, he added.

The fact that there is a new trend regarding wedding attires, brides and bridegrooms should make sure that they choose immaculate colours to look elegant on their weddings.

Remember that white and black are the fading colours of the millennium, white and cream are now the most wanted and admirable colours of the new trend for both women and men.
Like any other vibrant business woman, Karungi has a vision of supplying high quality, wedding attires to all Rwandans.
