‘One man’s meat could be another man’s poison’, so they say and players who were deemed surplus to the requirements at APR could be of great importance to Atraco.

Last week, the league champions released up to 17 senior players from their books and just days after, their rivals Atraco Fc have swooped for seven of them without spending a penny.

Among those profoundly reported to be on the move to Atraco are Vincent Kayiizi, Shaka Okello, Jean Shyaka, Manfred Kizito, Andre Lomami, Alimansi Kadogo and Yussuf ‘Chamie’ Kayihura.

After themselves releasing over 12 senior player during the close season, Capt. Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s side were short of numbers and were quick to jump on APR’s ‘junk’.

According to club sources, the seven have already agreed in principle to sign for the taxi-men club.

"As we talk now (yesterday), four of them (Jean Shyaka, Lomami, Kayihura and Kizito) have signed and we’re waiting for Kayiizi, Kadogo and Okello to return from Kampala,” one club high ranking official who preferred anonymity said yesterday.
The official noted that the Ugandan trio is expected in the country either today or tomorrow to finalize their respective transfers.

Besides the APR rejects, Atraco have also completed the signing of defender Olivier Uwingabire from rivals Rayon Sports.

The official said, "Olivier is our player, we have already finalized his transfer,” adding that, "There are other players we are currently in talks with.” The other players, he referred to, include striker Peter Kagabo and defender Charles Kawuma both from Kibuye FC as well as midfielder Donacien Tuyizere from Kiyovu. Also, it‘s reported that Atraco are trailing Kenyan striker Mark Sirengo who at one time was on APR books during the 2004/5 season.

Meanwhile, Rayon have forwarded the names of seven new players to the local football ruling body, Ferwafa seeking help in securing their International Transfer Certificates.

The seven include; Dugarry Ndabashinze from Burundi’s Vital’O, Fidele Gasandja Mbegala, Ewinge Mabika Tchamaka, Jonny Batambabaya, Deo Bataka Bolimo, Pizzo Tasomaka and Freddy Eniga Andosango, all from unnamed DR Congo clubs.

Recently APR stunned the football fraternity by releasing seventeen player including several first team players from its books.
