Famous stand-up comedians in the region have confirmed to bring their humor to Kigali, at the comedy festival slated for March 25 and 26.

Dubbed ‘Seka Fest’, the two-day festival is expected to attract at least 25 comedians, including local and regional comedians.

The event will feature local comedians from Comedy Knights’ and popular standup comedians in the region like Salvado from Uganda, Kenyans, Eric Omondi, Chipu Khizzy, Big Brother Africa award winner Idriss Sultan and Captain Khalid from Tanzania, Kigingi from Burundi and lead festival headliner Afametuna Klint Igwemma, a.k.a Klint Da Drunk, from Nigeria.

According to Arthur Nkusi, the brain behind the festival, comedians will be able to meet a bigger audience, where they will meet people in buses en route to different destinations as well as a chance for unknown comedians to showcase their talent, before the big event takes place in Kigali.

He said, "This is the first ever festival which is going to be headlined this way and it is the first time Rwanda is going to host such a big festival bringing together a number of big comedians not only in the region but across the continent. Talent holders should not miss this chance to showcase what they have in them, the chance comes once and it is up to them to keep moving”

The seasonal ‘Seka Live’ organizer also says they are going to conduct a comedy talent search next week where anyone who will prove worth making people laugh will surely perform at the festival.

The best performers from the auditions will be handed a chance to perform jokes alongside local comedians at the festival’s opening day during which will meet passengers from different destinations across the city, especially Kimironko, Kicukiro, Remera, Gikondo and Kacyiru bus terminals and make them laugh during their ride.

Arthur says, "This is a very special thing we want to bring in Rwanda and, according to plan, passengers will have an opportunity to travel with a comedian in the bus and enjoy the jokes at only Rwf 500 for a single ride.”
