Police FC edged leaders SC Kiyovu 2-0 at Mumena Stadium on Friday to move into third spot on the Azam Rwanda Premier League standings.
Antoine Dominique Ndayishimiye scored the first goal in the 67th minutes before Isaie Songa netted another in the 89th minute to earn their side all three points.
SC Kiyovu missed a good opportunity to find the net in the 70th minute through Innocent Habyarimana whose effort was cleared off the line by defender Hussein Habimana.
Mustapha Francis’s free kick also proved futile.
Police, now with 22 points, were effective in counterattack, which bore fruit when they extended their lead to 2-0.
Meanwhile, action continues today, with AS Kigali hosting Mukura at Kigali Stadium. A win for Eric Nshimiyimana’s side will take them to the summit with 25 points, one ahead of SC Kiyovu.
On Sunday, defending champions Rayon Sports host Espoir at Kigali Stadium, Marines host Amagaju at Umuganda Stadium, while Musanze play against Sunrise at Ubworoherane Stadium.
In other fixtures scheduled tomorrow, Bugesera will take on Kirehe in Nyamata while Miroplast will host Gicumbi.
