League defending champions Gisagara Volleyball Club have intensified preparations for forthcoming Men’s African Club Championships, which will be held from March 27 to April 5 in Ahly Club Halls Cairo, Egypt.
Both Gisagara and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), who won the women’s league title, will be crowned Rwandan champions on September 30, 2017.
Rwanda Revenue Authority are already in Cairo where the women’s competition got underway on Wednesday evening. By press time, RRA were due to play their first match against Nyong from Cameroon.
Their second match will be against title holders Ahly from Egypt on Thursday before winding up the group stage with the third match against Nkumba University from Uganda on Saturday.
Gisagara head coach Fidele Nyirimana said, "It’s the first time Gisagara will be participating in the African Club Championship but we will go in the tournament, hoping to get more experience.”
Gisagara are second in the national league with 19 points, one behind leaders University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies (UTB) while REG are third with 18 points and APR complete the top four with 15 points.
