Struggling Nyagatare Women Football Club has withdrawn from the women second division league, just two weeks after their male counterparts were handed a one-year ban by FERWAFA for missing three league matches without consent from the local football governing body.
The management of Nyagatare WFC wrote to FERWAFA requesting to pull out of the league after playing only two matches of the on-going second division women football league season.
Following their request, Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) allowed them to withdraw from the competition and will return next season. Nyagatare were in last place with zero points.
The second division women league will now comprise eight clubs namely; Gatsibo WFC, Ndabuc, AS Kabuye, Rugende, Rwamagana, Imanzi, Youvia and Nasho.
