Mount Kigali University and Emirates News Agency (WAM) have partnered to enrich the educational experience for students and faculty alike.
Emirates News Agency officials visited Mount Kigali University to discuss potential areas of collaboration during a meeting, held on Tuesday, February 27.

The Director General of WAM, Mohammed Jalal Alrayssi, underscored the importance of fostering partnerships with academic institutions. "We have over 140 media houses as partners worldwide, and we strive to enrich students’ experiences.”
Alrayssi, who also chairs the Global Media Congress Organizing Committee, highlighted WAM's commitment to supporting students and enhancing professionalism in the media industry.
The collaboration between Mount Kigali University and WAM holds promise for various opportunities, including student exchanges, knowledge sharing, and curriculum enrichment initiatives. Both institutions aim to facilitate professional internships and capacity-building programs in journalism and media, nurturing students' skills and fostering academic growth.

According to officials, opportunities for joint research projects and participation in events such as the Global Media Congress will further enrich their academic journey.
WAM has a history of fostering partnerships with universities and media outlets globally. Through events such as the Global Media Conference, the agency has facilitated exchanges between students, professors, and industry experts.
Dr. Martin Kimemia, Vice-Chancellor of Mount Kigali University said that the university is driven by the vision of providing world-class education. He added that "the university recognizes the critical role that collaboration with the news agency will enhance media training at the university.” Such partnerships, he added, help the university to attain its goals.

"Today marks a significant step as we explore potential collaboration with the Emirates News Agency to enhance our offerings in the mass media department right here at Mount Kigali University and even beyond. I believe this hands-on exposure will be important to our students and the media fraternity in Rwanda and beyond,” Dr. Kimemia said.
