Djoliba AC de Bamako Vs APR FC 5pm

APR FC will be looking to win their first leg away against Djoliba AC de Bamako in the first leg of CAF Confederation Cup first round clash at Stadium Modibo Keita in Bamako today.

The 2016 Peace Cup winners will be looking for a good result away from home before hosting the Malian side in the second leg after one week.

"We have good players and we will go into the game looking for a good result. We have prepared well for the game. We have to give 100% because we need to advance to the next round,” second assistant coach Jimmy Mulisa said.

Last year, the army side did not go past the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, crashing out of the competition at the hands of Zambia’s seven-time league champions Zanaco FC.

In the preliminary round, APR edged Anse Reunion FC of Seychelles to progress to the first round of Africa’s second biggest club competition.

Since they made their debut in Africa’s biggest club competition in 1997, APR have never reached the group stages.

Their opponents qualified to the 1/16th final without kicking a ball after Elwa United from Liberia withdrew from the competition due to financial constraints.

Djoliba reached the group stages of CAF Confederation Cup in 2012 while APR FC have never reached the group stages since they made their debut in Africa’s biggest club competition in 1997.
