RE: "New hope for renewed Rwanda-South Africa ties” (The New Times, February 16).

Few Rwandans will lament over President Jacob Zuma’s unceremonious eviction from Mahlamba Ndlopfu, given his association with anti-Rwanda terror groups, especially Kayumba Nyamwasa’s RNC, as well as his own clear persona anti-Rwanda animus.

While there can never be any guarantee that his departure will usher in a return to the two countries’ previously warm relations, things cannot be any worse. In any case, a leadership change is always pregnant with new beginnings, which translates into a welcome reset in our two countries’ relations.

An auspicious start would be the shutting down of the RNC’s base of operations in South Africa.
