What next for Charly & Nina after parting ways with Alex Muyoboke? And what next for Muyoboke, a man that has been credited for the duo’s phenomenal rise on the local and regional music scene?

Muyoboke is the CEO of Decent Entertainment, the artiste management and booking company to which Charly and Nina have been signed for the last five years.

However, in a surprise press communiqué released on social media Tuesday morning, the Face to Face hit makers announced that they were no longer under management of Decent Entertainment, with the move taking immediate effect February 20, 2018.

"Charly & Nina would like to announce that they are parting company with Decent Entertainment with immediate effect. We are taking control of our own careers, setting up our own management agency to manage our own affairs, as well as promoting our music,” read the statement in part.

They (Decent Entertainment) do not represent us and are not legally entitled to negotiate for us with effect from today the February 20, 2018.These are our new professional principles in order to advance our music and brand across Africa and the world,” the statement further read.

Within moments of posting the communiqué, it had become the most trending topic on Kigali’s showbiz circuit and the country at large.

But what could have caused the rift between the two parties, and what is the likely next course of action for Charly & Nina on the one hand, and Muyoboke on the other?

These questions are hard to answer at the moment, and the public can only speculate.

By press time, efforts to get a comment from both parties had yielded naught, with Muyoboke’s calls going unanswered, while Charly & Nina’s known telephone numbers were switched off.

In the press statement, the Zahabu singers talk about taking charge of their careers through setting up a management label.

But what next for Muyoboke, a man widely reputed for his midas touch when it comes to making stars out of erstwhile struggling musicians?

Under Decent Entertainment, Muyoboke has also previously managed other such local artistes as Tom Close, Dream Boys, Social Mula and Urban Boys.

In an earlier interview with this newspaper late last year, Muyoboke had hinted on politics as his next probable career path.

"I love both music and politics so much that I am hoping to join politics someday. I have loved music since I was a young boy and while at university, I used to organise music shows on my own. However, I studied political science and social work, therefore, I intend to switch career after ending my contract with Charly & Nina,” he said then.
