The President of the Supreme Court, Aloys Cyanzaire has warned those in the judicial sector against engaging in corruption and other malpractises which can taint the image of the judiciary.
She said this while opening a two day’s retreat of all court registrars which was convened in musanze district for the purposes of reviewing the court registrars’ code of conduct, goals and the vision for the coming new year.
Cyanzaire called upon the court registrars, whom she described as being at the heart of the judicial system , to correct the weakness being reported in handling of cases and find solutions especially with respect to the delays accassioned during compiling of the committal documents.
The court registrars were challenged to have court documents compiled on time to boost service delivery within the judicial system. It was reported that 8 court officials were under arrest in connection with corruption related charges during this year’s national dialogue conference.
It was also reported that cases of corruption had sent a bad image of the workings of the judiciary among the citizens, as the authorities are wary of corruption, with President Paul Kagame saying that corruption is a societal cancer which should be eliminated at all costs.
In his presentation, Johnston Busingye , the president of the High Court said that the registrars should improve their work ethics so that good conduct, quick service and positive attitude towards work can be seen to be part and parcel of the country’s judiciary.
