RE: "Regional mechanism to probe attack by DR Congo soldiers on Rwanda territory” (The New Times, February 2).

Given current regional goings-on, these are unlikely to be accidental. They are in all probability probing attacks to ascertain RDF’s degree of alertness on our borders and to try to identify any potential chinks in our defenses.

A robust reaction to take out any invaders at all times and to capture some of them for interrogation is in order, to dissuade them from trying anything even more reckless. They should be made to understand unequivocally that any armed incursions over our borders will be suicidal.
