Around Christmas, children ask questions about the origin of Father Christmas or Santa Claus. Well, I do not blame those who don’t know because I was once very curious about this subject. In fact it’s quite disappointing when no one has an answer.

Father Christmas is usually a large elderly man who is 60 to 70 years old. He dresses up in either a red or green snowsuit trimmed with white fur, a matching hat and dark boots. He carries a large brown sack filled with toys on his back.
Guess what, his origin is simple. Long time ago, in the 17th Century, people called the Puritans made a symbolic image of Christmas as a cheerful old figure because Christmas is a very old tradition which reminds us of Jesus’ birth.
It’s believed that the people who thought of this idea were all men and so they decided that Father Christmas should be a man.
As we approach Christmas, children can’t wait for the year to end because it is gift time! Every year, Father Christmas gives gifts to children. Have you seen Santa Clause this year? If not just be watchful, he might pass by.
