Everyday we see young children moving about, selling fruits or even doing work at construction sites, restaurants, shops and other places. This is not right, especially when it is time to go to school.

Children should help others to understand and fight for their own rights. In some countries, some children drop out of primary school to work for their families.

Later in life, they find themselves with little or no education and few working skills.

According to Article 26, of the ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights’, "Everyone has a right to education. Education shall be free, especially at primary levels. Elementary education is compulsory. All technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.”

It is not only the duty of parents to observe this right but children too can help-- by explaining to those who do not understand a child’s right to education.

If children stand tall and fight for their right to education, they will become better citizens of Rwanda.
