Southern Province-based Gisagara Volleyball Club will spend Rfw85m in Volleyball League season which kicked off last weekend, according to the president of Gisagara Volleyball Club François Xavier Mfashingabo.

The defending champion, Gisagara will represent Rwanda at this year’s Africa Club Championships, which will be held from March 27 to April 5 in Ahly Club Halls in Egypt.

Mfashingabo said that Rwf30m will be used in Africa Club Championships while Rwf55m will be used on different activities like paying rent, transport, food, and salaries.

"We have come up with what we believe is a sufficient enough budget for the new season, we have Rwf 85m for the team and we believe it will work very well,” Mfashingabo said.

Gisagara District supported the team with Rwf40m and the balance is sponsorship from people who love the club.

Gisagara won volleyball Heroes Cup after defeating REG 3-0 in final.

Gisagara signed ten players before the league started. They include: Vincent Dusabimana and Eugene Tuyishimire, from University of Kibungo (UNIK); Yves Niyonkuru and Peter Bigirimana from Rwanda Energy Group (REG), Nelson Murangwa from Tricolorul LMV Ploiesti in Romania and Hyango Theodore as free agent.

Other players are right attacker Ongom Ivan Bob from Sport-S in Uganda, Center Nicolas Matui from Water Club in Kenya, Christopher Mukunzi, from Saudi Arabian side Al-Mouj Club and Placide Madison Sibomana from Jordan side Al Awdeh Youth Club.
