Zuberi Hakizimana, a  young man aged 20 years and a resident of Kicukiro has won Rwf.10million from the ‘Crazy Christmas’ draw, a festive lottery draw jointly organised by Lotto Rwanda and Rwandatel.

Talking to the New Times soon after the draw was held last Sunday, Hakizimana who is currently unemployed couldn’t hide his excitement. He was however still undecided about what to do with his new found wealth.

‘I am so happy and right now it is hard for me to put my feelings into words. I always thought of being rich but not this way and not so fast’, Hakizimana said.

Johannes Lind, CEO, Tilla games—an organisation which partners with Lotto Rwanda in preparing the lotteries said, this is just the beginning of these lotteries lined up during this festive season.

‘Every Sunday there will be a ‘Crazy Sunday’ show with Dickson and Kelly on Radio 10 that will see more people winning instant cash prizes’, he explained.

The one hour show runs every Sunday from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Other winners took home diverse prizes such as Ipods, a DSTV with 3 month’s subscription, a Sam sung phone with Rwf.10,000 worth of airtime and a ticket to South Africa and pocket money worth US$1,000.

Meanwhile in a related development, 1,549 people on Saturday became the first National Lottery winners in Rwanda. Seven people scooped Rwf.134, 000 each while another batch of 134 people won Rwf.5,800 each.
