The recently inaugurated Rwanda Cricket stadium, located in Gahanga Sector of Kicukiro District, has been nominated for ArchDaily’s 2018 Building of the Year Awards.

ArchDaily is the most visited architecture website worldwide with over 500,000 daily readers and about 160 million page views per month as of 2016.

Visitors of the website will be tasked to filter through over 3,500 projects that have been nominated, along with the Rwanda Cricket stadium. This is the 9th consecutive year the awards are taking place.

ArchDaily’s 2018 Building of the Year Awards will be decided by their readers who will be tasked to recognise and vote the projects that they think are making an impact to societies around the world.

"It is a building made by Rwandans using Rwandan materials. The imperfections are celebrated - they are human and beautiful - and when combined with the layering of natural textures the building becomes imbues and celebrates this wonderful place” says part of a statement from ArchDaily’s website about Rwanda Cricket stadium.

Founded in 2008, ArchDaily covers architectural news, delivering inspiration, tools and knowledge to the 10 million architects that visit and use ArchDaily.

The construction of Rwanda Cricket Stadium was overseen by the Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation (RCSF), an NGO that is registered both in Rwanda and the UK.

The stadium was inaugrated in October 2017.

RCSF patrons include former UK Prime Minister David Cameron and West Indies cricket great, Brian Lara.
