Twelve teams, all in the second division league, will go into Saturday’s playoff round fighting for only five spots to join 27 others to complete the round of 32 of the 2018 Peace Cup.
Rwamagana City will face Nyagatare at Rwamagana Police group, Vision JN will battle Sorwathe FC at Ubworoherane Stadium, Gasabo will meet Akagera, Aspor face SEC at FERWAFA ground, Interforce play against Rugende at Kicukiro stadium while Giticyinyoni will play against UR FC at Muhanga Stadium.
The fixtures were drawn on Wednesday by the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA).
The eventual winners will then be ranked according to their performances with an aim of picking the best placed five teams, who will join the already qualified 27 to complete the 32-club roaster for the 1/16 round.
Rules will be looking at goals scored, conceded to decide the five teams, who will join others.
The five best-placed winners will join defending champions APR FC, Amagaju, AS Kigali, AS Muhanga, Bugesera, Kiyovu Sports, La Jeneusse, Mukura, Gicumbi, Marines, Etincelles, Espoir, Rayon Sports, Police, Sunrise, Musanze, Unity, Kirehe, Miroplast, Etoile de l’Est, Hope, Heroes Vision, Intare, Pepiniere, United Stars and Esperance respectively.
After the play-off round, the round of the 32 (1/16th) will then begin with the first leg action on Feb. 6-7 while the return leg is slated for Feb. 21-22.
Winners will then proceed to the round of 16 (1/8) scheduled for March 14-15 while the return leg will be played on March 17-18. The quarterfinals will be staged from May 22-23 and the return leg on June 12-13.
The last four will meet in the semi-finals between June 26-27 and second leg will be played on June 30 and July 1 before the final and third place is played on July 4.
