GICUMBI - Urban and rural planning officers at Gicumbi district this Monday unveiled the district’s urban plan to Sector Executive Secretaries, Civic leaders at Sector level and members of the private sector hailing from the district.
The district head in-charge of Urban and rural planning Adeline Kanyamugenge said that urban plans for Byumba, Kageyo, Rukomo and Muhazi sites were complete, while that of Gatuna was underway.
‘Each urban site is comprised of High, medium and low standing commercial or residential buildings including a modern market, Schools and dispensary’, said Kanyamugenge.
At Byumba site located in Nyamabuye Cell, the urban site comprises of 132 plots for high standing buildings and 61 plots for medium standing ones including a plot for a modern market, Primary School and a dispensary.
At Rukomo site located along Kigali- Gatuna highway, the new urban plan includes a spacious parking yard for long distance transit trucks, while the adjacent Kageyo site shall comprise of 73 plots for high standing buildings and 79 for medium standing ones, including a green area for botanic gardens and a tourist attraction area.
The Muhazi urban plan site will be exclusively reserved for 27 high standing commercial and residential buildings including 12 green areas and 96 plots for tourist camping sites.
‘The road along Lake Muhazi shall be shifted to respect the minimum distance of having a 50m distance away from the shores of the lake’, added Kanyamugenge.
According to the new urban plan, each high standing building will cost over Rwf 40m , the medium standing Rwf.15m to 30m while the low standing ones are to cost between Rwf.10m to 15m.
Commenting on the new district urban plan, Mayor Bonane Nyangezi urged those present to respect the plans because it is in line with Rwanda’s development strategies aimed at attaining vision 2020.
‘This urban planning exercise is being carried out in all districts in order to attain our road map into the future otherwise called the vision 2020’, said Nyangezi.
