Rwanda international Abdoul Rwatubyaye has signed a three-year contract extension with the Azam Rwanda Premier League champions Rayon Sports. The new deal runs until 2020.
The former APR centre back will be earning Rwf600,000 a month, besides the Rfw8m he received in sign-on fee.
He joined the blues from APR three years ago.
"We are glad that Abdul has signed an extension and giving him a new contract is an indication that we are happy with his work,” head coach Olivier Karekezi said.
"I am honoured and excited to sign a new deal with the club because it shows that my bosses want to work with me,” said Rwatubyaye.
He added: "I hope to continue working hard for the team. My ambition is to keep Rayon Sports going strong and winning titles.”
The defender has been out of action for at least six months following a long knee injury layoff.
The 21-year-old underwent surgery on his right knee at King Faisal Hospital, Kigali, late last year.
Doctors gave him 26 weeks to train alone and he has been doing the aerobics and gym before returning to full training.
The Rwanda international damaged his knee ligament during Rayon’s league win against Bugesera at Nyamata ground last season.
The former APR centre-back rose through the ranks, from the country’s U17, to U20 , then U23 and now the senior Amavubi.
Rwatubyaye has 16 caps and one goal for his country.
